Our History

Trusted Legacy in Grain Trading Since 1980s
Founding Years: A Vision Rooted in Soil

Shri Bal Krishan Tayal, born in 1929 into a modest farming family, laid the foundation for what would become a multi-generational legacy in Punjab's grain trade. From an early age, he was deeply connected to agriculture and rural life, which shaped his understanding of the farmer’s hardships and the grain market’s pulse. He began his professional career as a government school teacher and later served as a Headmaster, where he was known for his discipline, commitment to education, and service to the community.

Even while fulfilling his duties as a teacher and Headmaster, he remained closely involved in supporting his father’s work as a Commission Agent (Kaccha Arthia) in the Old Grain Market of Moga. His dual commitment to education and business reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to his family’s values. In 1979, he took voluntary retirement from his service as a government Headmaster and fully embraced the grain trade, formally joining the family business in 1980 under the name M/s. Sita Ram Bal Krishan.

Through his honesty, discipline, and deep knowledge of the trade, Shri Bal Krishan quickly became a respected and trusted figure among farmers, traders, and buyers. His ability to balance traditional trading practices with ethical dealings earned him great respect in the mandi. Under his stewardship, the firm became a reliable name for grain procurement and commission-based trading.

Beyond grain trading, Shri Bal Krishan also actively contributed to the wider agricultural business community in Moga. During his active years, he served as the President of the Fertilizer and Pesticides Association, Moga, representing the interests of businesses associated with agricultural inputs and contributing to the local farming and trading community.

His leadership within the grain-trading community was further reflected in his appointment as the General Secretary of the Arthia Association, Moga, a role he served with distinction from 1992 to 2009. During his tenure, he worked to represent the interests of the commission agent community, advocating for fair practices, policy reforms, and unity within the grain market.

A man of principle and vision, Shri Bal Krishan Tayal’s contribution laid the groundwork for future generations, instilling in them the values of hard work, service, and ethical business. His legacy continues to inspire the operations and culture of M/s. Sita Ram Bal Krishan to this day.

New Energy, New Horizons

In 1985, his son Shri Deepak Tayal joined the business, bringing fresh perspective and energy to the traditional grain trade. Under his leadership, the firm expanded significantly and modernized operations to meet growing market demands.

In 2018, Shri. Deepak Tayal introduced Pakka Arthia, broadening the scope of the business to trade in a wider variety of grains, including wheat, paddy (basmati), maize, moong, and mustard seeds (sarson). His strong vision led to a key partnership with KRBL (India Gate Basmati Rice) as a new paddy handling agent in 2021, marking a new chapter of growth.

During the middle years of his professional career, Shri Deepak Tayal earned widespread respect for his integrity, wisdom, and impartial judgment. In recognition of these qualities, he was invited by Lok Adalat, Moga to serve as a judge in resolving public and community-related disputes, where his fair and balanced decisions helped settle matters amicably and strengthened public confidence.

Beyond business, Shri Deepak Tayal is also deeply involved in community service and social welfare. A socially active individual, he has served as the head of several non-governmental organizations, including Lions Club International, and remains closely associated with Arya Samaj, where he holds leadership roles in managing educational institutions under its umbrella.

He also continued the legacy of leadership, serving as General Secretary of the Arthia Association, Moga (2009–2023) and currently as Secretary of the Federation of Arthia Association, Punjab (2022–Present) under the dynamic leadership of President of Federation of Arthia Association Sh. Vijay Kalra Ji.

Third Generation Leadership

In 2017, the third generation of the family entered the business with the induction of Shubham Tayal, son of Shri Deepak Tayal. With a forward-looking mindset and a solid educational foundation, Shubham brought a modern and strategic approach to grain trading. While pursuing his MBA in Marketing and Human Resources, he simultaneously immersed himself in business operations, gaining practical experience from an early stage. As part of his academic journey, he also completed a management internship with Nestlé India Limited, where he developed insights into professional work culture.

Upon joining the family firm full-time, Shubham focused on expanding procurement operations and building new industry partnerships. Leveraging his education and business acumen, he strengthened the company’s footprint by initiating ties with multiple agro-industries, especially for the procurement of moong, paddy (basmati), and other high-demand grains.

Under the leadership of the third generation, SRBK (M/s. Sita Ram Bal Krishan) further diversified its operations by commencing grain trading with the Food Corporation of India (FCI), adding another prestigious association to its portfolio. This strategic expansion strengthened the firm’s position as a trusted and reliable participant in India’s food grain supply chain.

Shubham represents the firm’s next-generation leadership. His contribution continues to drive the business toward greater efficiency, broader market reach, and stronger relationships across the agricultural value chain.
